X-Ray Parameters

While taking the initial frontal and lateral x-rays of the patient and fitted frame, some measurements should be made and recorded here. The software will then generate matching views of the frame with a coordinate grid, for use in determining the deformity parameters. Note that this will take some time.

If you enter a frame identifier for which you have previously defined x-ray parameters, and leave the data fields empty, then the saved data will be used and can be edited if required. Enter example-frame for example definitions.

Frame identifier

The distance from the x-ray source to the x-ray sensor (film or digital) defines the graphics projection. Numbers identifying the point on each ring nearest to the x-ray source define the frame orientation. The fixing holes provide a convenient scale for this; for example, if a point midway between hole 11 and hole 12 is nearest the x-ray source, enter 11.5. The software assumes that the x-ray target point is the middle of the line joining these nearest points, and that both rings are in contact with the x-ray sensor surface unless positive clearance values are entered below. The clearance is the distance from the edge of the ring to the x-ray sensor. In the generated graphics, ring 2 is above ring 1, and ring hole numbers increase from left to right at the front. Dimension units are mm.

The software checks the physical consistency of the nearest points, and highlights inconsistencies in the generated graphics. Inconsistencies can be due to errors in recording the nearest points or in entering frame geometry. To benefit from this check before taking an x-ray, you can enter and submit data for a single view, with zero data for the other view. However, you must enter and submit data for both views at the same time before moving on to the next page.
